·
Frequent feeding of small amounts
decreases chances of digestive upsets.
·
Monitor weight regularly to guarantee
that they are consuming enough Kitten-Gro.
·
If kittens are not gaining enough weight
consult your veterinarian.
·
If kittens are crying excessively, they
may not be getting enough to eat or they may be too cold.
·
Boil fresh water before reconstituting
Kitten -Gro. Allow cooling time.
·
Reconstituted Kitten-Gro may be
refrigerated up to 24 hours.
·
If warmed in microwave only use medium
setting and mix thoroughly and regularly. Check temperature before
feeding.
·
Reconstituted Kitten-Gro should be fed
at 38-39°C (body temperature). Use a thermometer.
·
Discard any unused portion after 24
hours.
·
Clean ALL feeding utensils and equipment
after each feeding: rinse in lukewarm water, wash with a detergent in hot
(80oC) water, rinse with clean water (ideally a 10% bleach
solution) and dry thoroughly with a ‘clean’ towel.
·
Kittens need assistance to help urinate
and defecate for at least the first 2 weeks of life after each feeding.
You need to assist by using a warm moist cotton ball and massaging the
kitten’s abdomen and anal area until they urinate and or defecate. You
must be persistent, this is very important to the kittens well being.
·
Consult your veterinarian for any signs
of disease, fever, parasites, …
·
Fresh, clean water should be available at
all times, starting at 3 weeks of age.
Housing and Weaning
·
Kittens must be
housed in a clean, warm, draft-free area.
·
Air temperature
should be 29-32°C (85-90°F) for the first week and 27°C (80°F) for the
next 3-4 weeks. Use a thermometer.
·
At 3 weeks,
teach kitten to drink from a saucer.
·
The weaning
process can begin at 4 weeks of age by introducing moistened solid food
